Barun Bio Inc. (CEO Jinkee Hong ) announced that it has been selected as an Innovation Award winner in the wearable technology category at CES 2024 for its product ‘WE-STIM (Wearable Electric Stimulation) Leggings’.

Barun Bio is a company specializing in anti-aging life care solutions. According to the company, their core technology, micro-electric energy, is an original anti-aging technology that uses micro-electric energy generated from everyday movements without any batteries or devices. This technology was developed over more than 10 years of research. A representative of Barun Bio stated, “Our technology is an innovative method that can induce changes in cells without the lengthy process of cell therapy or new drugs. It provides products and solutions that easily and naturally create anti-aging effects in everyday life.”

The WE-STIM leggings, which received the Innovation Award, were introduced as a product designed to utilize energy generated from everyday human movements, going beyond a simple fashion item for health and wellbeing. The WE-STIM material applied inside the leggings continuously generates micro-electric energy in response to body movement and transfers it to the muscles. An official explained, “According to exercise tests, this electric stimulation activates muscles, improving exercise performance by 30%, and reducing muscle fatigue by an average of over 6%. It also aids in accelerating recovery during rest and can reduce accompanying muscle soreness and swelling in daily life.”

Barun Bio’s technology uses structural engineering to integrate the WE-STIM structure with conventional clothing materials and conductive fibers. This is designed to effectively deliver energy harvested from body activities. A key advantage of Barun Bio’s wearable solutions is that all materials and manufacturing processes can be produced based on fiber technology, eliminating the need for any additional equipment or wires.

Customer feedback since the market launch has been positive, especially among those who commonly experience leg fatigue or swelling and those who engage in frequent physical activities. Besides, the product received positive reviews for its comfortable fit, material quality, and practicality, differentiating it from typical electric stimulation leggings. Barun Bio views these technological developments, product innovations, and consumer responses as stepping stones towards future advancements in medical devices for anti-aging.

Barun Bio Inc. led by CEO Jinkee Hong, successfully completed product development and enhanced their product through two rounds of crowdfunding, effectively validating it in the market. Notably, a product improvement and supply contract with the Korea Baseball Association and a product deal with Chong Kun Dang Health proved to be milestones in demonstrating the product’s reliability and market potential. Based on these achievements in the Korean market, Barun Bio is now expanding its improved product lineup, reflecting consumer feedback, and enhancing brand recognition through rapid commercialization.

In line with strengthening its presence in the domestic market, the company is preparing to enter the U.S. market and is developing various global strategic partnerships and export plans to solidify its foundation as a provider of anti-aging life care solutions in the global market. Through CES 2024, Barun Bio is actively engaging and collaborating with global apparel, beauty, and functional healthcare companies, expecting its core technology to be highly valued by American consumers. The company is also seeking contacts with investors who agree with and support their plans for product expansion and platform development.

A company official stated, “The athleisure market is rapidly growing, crossing the boundaries between fashion and lifestyle, in response to modern consumers’ needs for comfort and functionality. The expansion of a consumer base that transcends gender and age boundaries, along with the global increase in interest in health and wellbeing, is driving the multipurpose nature and continuous expansion of athleisure products. Reflecting this trend, Barun Bio has decided to develop advanced athleisure products suitable for the modern lifestyle that blends everyday life with exercise.”

The official continued, “Simply by wearing and moving, users can utilize the energy continuously generated in everyday life for muscle activation and recovery. This energy, generated regardless of what clothes are worn, is safe and our core technology stimulates cells by delivering this energy to the targeted areas. Based on this, we focused on optimizing the product’s performance, safety, and user experience for the Innovation Award, conducting extensive tests and improvements.”

Barun Bio also emphasized that they have scientifically proven the efficacy and reliability of their products by publishing in top-tier SCI journals across various fields. Additionally, the product’s safety and durability have been verified by several accredited certification bodies. In the design of the product, user comfort and practicality were prioritized, with repeated experiments and improvements on various designs and materials. These efforts allowed them to meet the criteria for the Innovation Award, encompassing technology, innovation, and design.

An official stated, “Winning the Innovation Award at CES 2024 is more than just a product success; it has become a milestone in affirming our vision in anti-aging life care technology and health enhancement. Barun Bio will continue to strive to improve the quality of life for our customers and develop more innovative products. Starting with muscle care apparel, our anti-aging life care products will expand to include cosmetics, patches, and other beauty and healthcare products in 2024. We also aim to deliver products equipped with our technology to consumers through collaborations with various companies.”
