Barunbio Inc. (CEO Lee Jae-young) participated in the global startup exhibition ‘SWITCH 2022 (The Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology 2022)’, held in Singapore from October 25th (Tuesday) to 28th (Friday).
Barunbio has developed a novel electric stimulation solution, dedicatedly researched and developed by experts in various fields. Their technology focuses on innovatively harvesting energy and effectively delivering it to the target area.
At the exhibition, they introduced the ‘SPS (Self-Powered Stimuli)’ technology, which adds life to cells through everyday movement. SPS generates a micro-electric field from human movement, without any external mechanical device, continuously activating the target area. The SPS solution can be implemented in various forms like fibers, gels, or patches, allowing customized application to areas of the body requiring healing, as explained by the company.
SPS notably utilizes energy wasted during daily activities without the need for any devices or equipment. Movements, contact with objects, and ambient electrical energy all serve as energy sources. Localized micro-current potentials are generated in the areas where SPS is applied, precisely targeting and stimulating like GPS. It is known for providing continuous therapeutic effects in various disease models, optimized for user convenience during daily activities.
Also presented was WE-stim (Wearable Electric stimulation), a technology of Barunbio optimized for sports activities. An official explained that it increases muscle energy (ATP) production by 135% through continuous electrical stimulation to the muscles and reduces muscle fatigue by 4.8%.
A representative from Barunbio stated, “Our technology adds new value to medical devices. We believe in the power of thinking differently and challenging the status quo.”
Meanwhile, the 7th ‘SWITCH 2022’, organized by Enterprise Singapore, a public agency under the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Singapore, is a global startup exhibition. The 20 domestic startups participating in ‘SWITCH 2022’ were selected through two supporting institutions: the Korea Startup Center (KSC) Center in Singapore and the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development (10 each). These startups took part in the main event from October 25 to 28, which included operating K-STARTUP demo booths, K-STARTUP Demo Day, investor meetings, networking events, and pitch contests.
